or her eventual success. The seminars were worth several times what I paid, since I learned not only how to lead a much happier life, but also what the secret of trading really was.
All consistently successful traders get to a point where the market lives inside them. No longer are they looking at the market from an outside perspective; rather, they are "one" with the market. Most traders who stay in this business for more than a few years have realized that the market will never validate their beliefs or actions. They know that the market is nothing more than a reflection of their own internal beliefs and representations. In order to become consistently profitable traders, they had to change their beliefs to accommodate the market.
By adopting the same beliefs and rules that more successful individuals use, you can greatly reduce the amount of time required to master any subject. A great deal of research will still need to be done, and of course there is still a fairly steep learning curve. However, the amount of time required can easily be cut in half.
While this chapter is short, I trust that you have come to the realization that successful trading is within your grasp. All you have to do is be willing to expand the repertoire of skills that you need to trade. You must make a commitment to excel at an admittedly difficult endeavor. The amount of time to master trading may be dramatically shortened; however, a certain amount of "dues" will still have to be paid.
